Blacklight Tapestries and Wall Hangings

Blacklight Peace Sign with op-art background.
There was special red/blue glasses that these were
designed to be used with that gave a 3-D effect when
used to look at it even in natural light.

This was art I helped create on a "work-for-hire" basis in the 1980's. Stupid move on my part, I probably was under the influence of something or another to contribute to the creation of art under those conditions. It is at least a little gratifying to think that they are still in print. I wasn't part of the first wave of blacklight posters in the 1960's but these are part of the first "revival" of the Sixties style of art in the 1980's but I think these were done in the early 1990's. The whole line was sort of a "knock-off" of better known images but there was some originality given the time restraints and demands for "product."

This was from a little sketch the "boss" liked

My attempt to imitate Peter Max

This one was very effective with the special glasses,
an original concept although inspired by op art.

The inspiration should be obvious but I
intentionally added the tacky "stick-on" style
of flowers.

From the well known Alice in Wonderland illustration
but the colors were all my own.
One of my original designs.
A postcard of a blacklight flocked poster I did in 1986
for a rival company in the "novelty" trade, National Trends. No love lost among people of
different ethnic backgrounds in the Motor City and its suburban sprawl.
Like the old  bluesmen I worked for whoever
paid cash in advance.
